The Revision: Tomie

Miho Kanno as Tomie and Mami Nakamura as Tsukiko

It can be argued that Tomie isn’t even really about Tomie — it’s about all the people she influences and affects. Tomie is less a character than a force — she’s evil, sure, but that’s just her nature. She can’t help it. She has no morality.

The Revision: Tank Girl

Lori Petty as Tank Girl in Tank Girl

Capturing Tank Girl’s anarchic qualities on film was never going to be easy, and Tank Girl (1995, directed by Rachel Talalay) tries really hard. I still have a lot of mixed feelings about this movie. I like it — I do own it, and I also own the soundtrack on vinyl (because of course I do) but I go back and forth about how much it actually works.

Re-Enter Sandman: Exit Light

Walk any path in Destiny's garden, and you will be forced to choose, not once but many times. The paths fork and divide. With each step you take through Destiny's garden, you make a choice; and every choice determines future paths. However at the end of a lifetime of walking you might look back, and see only one path stretching out behind you; or look ahead and see only darkness. Art by Mike Dringenberg and Malcolm Jones III

Mostly, though, I liked it mostly in the same way I always have. It’s a rich and messy comic with plenty of highs and lows. I think it’s a masterpiece when taken as a whole work, even if individual parts are failures.

Re-Enter Sandman: The Wake

A portion of the first hard cover of The Sandman: The Wake. Art by Dave McKean

The Wake doesn’t really need to do that much — it mostly feels and operates like an epilogue — but it provides Neil Gaiman with the opportunity he needed to close out the story of this incarnation of Dream and look to the next one.

Sasha Velour's Travesty was amazing. It was the 250th show of Izzard's Hamlet and so that was fun. She did take a brief video in the lobby to celebrate and I might be briefly in the background. https://www.instagram.com/p/DW2Q9oCEyty/ I bought plants! It's UK punk night! Lady Gaga! I won't take photos during the show because I want to experience it. Super Furry Animals night. The last few are 7 inch singles. My mom, @tracymillerdesigns, took 80 of her collages and created a deck of Insight Cards called The Open Door. I've had my deck for a few days and it's a lot of fun. The results are kind and playful and surprising. They're now for sale in her Etsy shop. Mostly all various artists but a lot of Giorgio Moroder.
