The Batter’s Eye: Field of Dreams

Field of Dreams is arguably the most-well known baseball movie. “If you build it, they will come” remains such a solid piece of pop culture that it almost doesn’t matter if you’ve seen the movie or not. You already know Field of Dreams.

The Batter’s Eye: Bull Durham

Bull Durham (1988, directed by Ron Shelton) is the first of the classic baseball movies starring Kevin Costner. That doesn’t have much to do with anything but I felt like pointing it out.

The Batter’s Eye: Lee Jang-ho’s Baseball Team

Baseball is considered an American sport, but it’s not exclusively one. When putting together my list of baseball movies, I wanted to make sure I did capture an international perspective on the game. But maybe Lee Jang-ho’s Baseball Team (1986, directed by Lee Jang-ho) wasn’t […]

Belle Isle, Detroit, Mich. One of the best shows I've ever seen. Is there something else happening in the DC area today? -Joan Jett & the Blackhearts - I Love Rock 'n' Roll Eventually I gave up and admitted my phone was my clock (I generally don't need an alarm but I like to know what time it is during the night). I decided I needed a better-looking phone stand and I realized a small picture easel was perfect. Lime Garden - Maybe Not Tonight Dragon Peanut Tempeh Lettuce Cups from The 29-Minute Vegan by @isachandra. Not fully outside my wheelhouse but I never would have put these things together in this way. -Strawberry Alarm Clock - Best of Strawberry Alarm Clock I am pretty sure I've made this meal before but it's a good one. Corn and edamame salad, Asian marinated baked tofu & wasabi mashed potatoes, all from Veganomicon. Now, the potatoes were instant but who cares (I am crediting Veganomicon, though, because that's where I got the idea).
