The Revision Redux: Modesty Blaise

I actually watched the 1982 TV pilot for Modesty Blaise (directed by Reza Badigi) twice because the first time I watched it, my focus was fading in and out and I was certain I must have missed something.

The Revision Redux: St. Trinian’s

It’s fascinating how many times the cartoons of Ronald Searle’s St. Trinian’s have been adapted on film given there really aren’t that many of the cartoons themselves.

The Revision Redux: Brenda Starr

Other than the 1945 film serial, Brenda Starr has been adapted two more times to date, once as TV movie in 1976 and once as theatrical film that was produced in 1986 but wasn’t released until 1989 in Europe and 1992 in the U.S.

The Revision Redux: Blondie

A still from Blondie on Vacation

I did not watch all of them. I watched maybe … 5? I admittedly lost track. There may have been another I don’t remember.

The Batter’s Eye: Reggie

It’s now October and so it feels appropriate to wrap up the baseball season with a documentary about a player known as Mr. October.

Ai Yazawa manga & a cool T-shirt. I'm going to see how much I have left in me for NYC for the rest of the day. Fort Tryon Park, The Cloisters & then the Hilma af Klint exhibit at MoMA. That was focused on her botanical paintings, which are lovely, but I like her abstract stuff better. Still, I'm glad I got to see it. Forgive my sweaty face and frizzy hair. It's humid and I climbed 10,000 stairs to get here but I finally saw these in person! Worth it! Cabaret was amazing. More thoughts later. I hope Orville Peck does more theater. Off to NYC. One of my gifts is randomly finding four-leaf clovers without really trying. Or in this case, a five-leaf clover. It's 1975 night! No real reason for this. We'll just pretend 1975 wasn't 50 years ago or anything so we don't feel old. -The Cure: Standing on the Beach: The Singles Madonna - Madonna
