The Revision: The Belles of St. Trinian’s

A still from The Belles of St. Trinian's

The cartoons don’t really have a consistent plot or characters (some are given names but most are not) but give glimpses into a boarding school where the girls are nothing but trouble.

The Revision: Brenda Starr, Reporter

The comic strip is weird, delightful and fun and I don’t understand is how much this film serial completely misunderstands what makes Brenda Starr a great heroine.

The Revision: Blondie & Blondie on a Budget

A still from Blondie

There are 28 Blondie movies, with the first released in 1938 and the last released in 1950. Each runs about 70 minutes long. They are, essentially, super-sized sitcoms.

Introducing: The Revision

A stack of graphic novels and comic collections

Welcome to The Revision: an extensive deep dive into movies that are based on comics that are focused on women and girls (that don’t have superheroes). Yes, that’s highly specific, but that’s why it’s really cool.

Ai Yazawa manga & a cool T-shirt. I'm going to see how much I have left in me for NYC for the rest of the day. Fort Tryon Park, The Cloisters & then the Hilma af Klint exhibit at MoMA. That was focused on her botanical paintings, which are lovely, but I like her abstract stuff better. Still, I'm glad I got to see it. Forgive my sweaty face and frizzy hair. It's humid and I climbed 10,000 stairs to get here but I finally saw these in person! Worth it! Cabaret was amazing. More thoughts later. I hope Orville Peck does more theater. Off to NYC. One of my gifts is randomly finding four-leaf clovers without really trying. Or in this case, a five-leaf clover. It's 1975 night! No real reason for this. We'll just pretend 1975 wasn't 50 years ago or anything so we don't feel old. -The Cure: Standing on the Beach: The Singles Madonna - Madonna
