Christmas Countdown: Indie Comics Inspiration Party!

Still from The Simpsons Roasting Over an Open Fire

There is nothing more Christmas than comics! All of these shows were created by indie comics creators and/or had indie comics creators work on them or are close enough to being indie comics creators that we’re going to count them.

Christmas Countdown: The Twilight Zone: The Night of the Meek & Carol for Another Christmas

A still from The Twilight Zone: The Night of the Meek

“Christmas” and “Rod Serling” seem like an odd combination, or at least one that will end up being unsettling. Mostly, though, both of his Christmas-themed tales are about kindness and hope for humanity, even in the face of the darkness.

Christmas Countdown: My So-Called Life & Gilmore Girls

Luke and Lorelei at the hospital in "Forgiveness and Stuff"

What is Christmas without some teen angst? It’s weird for me to think that these episodes only aired about six years apart (“So-Called Angels” on December 22, 1994, and “Forgiveness and Stuff on December 21, 2000) because in my head, they’re from two different eras of television.

Stop going outside! Watch holiday things instead!

Title screen from Adventure Time: Holly Jolly Secrets

You are a very smart person. You’re not going to travel this year which probably means you’re not going to spend your holidays in the way you want (unless this how you wanted to spend your holidays, and if that’s the case, I support you […]

What do we do now?

Image from Cowboy Bebop

On March 9, I went to a screening of Tokyo Godfathers. (I love that movie.) Before the movie, I joked that there were probably some DC restaurants we should try, since most of them would be empty.

Shower curtain! It's by @hangtight. I knew I wanted to do blue and orange (I already had navy towels) and you know, it's a bathroom, so water ... Somehow that led to koi and I saw this and it was perfect. We think these were from my maternal grandfather's mother. They have a D initial, which works with a family name. Four have years on the back of the handles (1916, 1917, 1918, and 1919), which tracks with what we know. Split Enz - History Never Repeats (Best of) I still have so much stuff to move but I overdid it a bit yesterday & my back was really telling me no. I still made a couple of trips and, of course, went to Target. But I also assembled my patio furniture (not perfectly but I blame the product/vague instructions. It won't collapse or anything). I am excited to have a patio! Luna - Lunafied (sides A and C) yeah, The Zombies is not Black Sabbath, but it was a good night of music. New hair color, except, well, it's essentially my natural color (minus my grays). I needed a change. I really need a haircut but I don't know what. @jigjamlive at @strathmorearts tonight. It would've been more fun on the lawn, of course, but they were great. I'm a fan now! Bjork: Post
